I have a presentation room that projects 5 screens. I want to set up some different layouts, and have them available for anyone who logs on the the system. I don't want to have to rebuild these configurations every time a new user logs on. Can you suggest a way this can be done?

BTW, I love UltraMon, a great product! I spent months struggling with the video card's software, trying to get it to do what we wanted. Never realized a third party program could be the solution.

This is possible, but requires a bit of work.

You'll need to create a new folder for the display profiles, accessible to all users, and then set up a default user configuration in the registry.

1) By default, display profiles are saved in 'C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\Profiles' (the directory used is also shown under UltraMon Options > Profiles and Shortcuts).

Once you have created the display profiles, copy the Profiles folder to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Realtime Soft\UltraMon.

2) To set each user's display profiles directory to the newly created directory, create a new .reg file and paste the following into it:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\Shortcuts]
"Profile Directory"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\Realtime Soft\\UltraMon\\Profiles"

After running the .reg file, each new user will use the new shared display profiles directory by default.

3) If some users already have stored registry settings for UltraMon, you'll need to delete the 'Profile Directory' value under the user's 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\Shortcuts' registry key, otherwise this value will override the default.

I can do that. Thanks for the quick reply.

What about also having the mirroring settings be for all users?

You could also copy the mirroring registry settings to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT to do this.

The mirroring settings are saved under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\Mirroring.

The easiest way to do this is to export the mirroring registry key to a .reg file using RegEdit, then replace HKEY_CURRENT_USER with HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT in the .reg file and run it.

Mahlzeit zusammen!
