Let's say I find a PCI Express board, put a BFGTech GeForce 6800 AGP card together with a matched pair of BFGTech GeForce 6800 PCI cards "Expressed together".
1 - Any reason it wouldn't work? 2 - Will two monitors on the PCI plus a single monitor on the AGP be as fast as you can get? 3 - Do we know if everything is available yet?
What will PCI-Express mean to the PC? "One fairly exciting possibility for this upcoming technology is the potential for multiple graphics cards using the same high-speed connection. Currently it is possible to use more than one video card in a given system by combining an AGP card with a 32-bit PCI card. There is no apparent reason why the X16 spec could not be extended to include support for more than one slot, allowing multiple high-speed PCI-Express graphics cards... though at the moment, such a feature does not exist as far as we know."

PCI Express will replace AGP, so it doesn't seem likely that they will put AGP slots on a motherboard that has PCI Express slots.

Looks like there is a motherboard with both PCI Express and AGP, but unfortunately only one PCI Express-16 for video cards. It also has 2 PCI Express-1 slots, and 2 standard (old-style) PCI slots. I wonder how well all those slot types interact.

They will release hybrid boards to allow people to migrate gradually, just like they did with AGP. Whether you are lucky enough to get a twin PCI-X and an AGP remains to be seen, but 1 x PC-X & 1 x AGP will happily run 4 monitors I would expect...
