In various applicatios, after a few hours of the computer operation, suddenly: The title bar becomes transparent (inc. the minimize, restore and close buttons) EXCEPT for Ultarmon's buttons (move to other monitor and maximize to desktop). So do the toolbars. It's not only that they become invisible, they're not there - you can click through where they should have been. The background around the little tray icons (e.g. Norton's, UltraMon's etc) becomes transparent. The icons, however, are still there. And then the computer goes amock.
Any ideas? Or any ideas where to ask about it?

Might be due to running out of resources, but I've never seen toolbars/title bars becoming transparent. Usually what happens is that you can no longer open new applications/windows.
To test this, reboot the system, then open new instances of Internet Explorer and/or Notepad until it no longer works. On my test system with 512 MB RAM, I can only open about 50 instances of Internet Explorer and 20 instances of Notepad, a bit less if UltraMon is running (due to using additional resources).
You can also get information on resource usage through Windows Task Manager, take a look at the Handles value on the Performance tab, and on the Processes tab you can enable the 'USER Objects', 'Handle Count' and 'GDI Objects' columns.
