Have an IBM thinkpad with ATI mobility radeon 7500 and an external monitor. I had it setup to run dual screens and it was working for a few weeks with no problem.
Came in this morning and no-go. Display settings let's me click on "Extend my windows desktop to this monitor" but if I "apply" it unchecks it.
Question: is there an administrator function that would enable my network admin to disable dual monitor support?

First try going to the device manager and be sure everythings ok on that end, if so I'd suggest rebooting.
