Forums -> Multiple monitors -> Nvidia Mutilple monitors video overlay and direct x problems

hey all,

I've been using a 3 monitor setup for a while now
but I've always had problems with video overlays
(embedded video on webpages being black) and
directx games (polygon flickering, bluescreen errors after extended play)

The setup:
mobo K7VTA3 (rev 8.0) via chipset
card 1 Geforce3 Ti 500 Agp
card 2 Geforce4 MX 440 PCI (dual head)

I'm using the Nvidia 56.72 detonator drivers

Windows 2000 with SP4

I also have a Hauppage PCI tv tuner card

(The Geforce4 PCI also has "with AGP 8x" in the
device listing...I don't know why, but it
won't let me change it to anything else)

The agp card is the primary (monitor1)
in the middle with the PCI dual head
in "dualview" mode (monitor2 and monitor3)
around it. I.E. mon2 - mon1 - mon3

If I try to watch an embeded video on a webpage,
I get sound, but a black picture. If I disable the
mon2 and mon3 in the display settings (the PCI card) then I get the video.

Just yesterday I tried playing Freelancer and
once I get to the title screen, I notice the
polygon flickering. So I exited out, and disabled
mon2 and 3 (on the PCI) and went back in. The
polys still flickered and this time after
10 secs the PC crashed with a bluescreen.

I also play Anarchy online in a window and it
seems to be very unstable in that it will crash
to desktop or crash to bluescreen (with mon2 and 3 on or off)

I tried reinstalling the Nvidia drivers and direct x. So I get back in set up the Gefoce 3 ti
(agp) but leave the PCI card disabled in the
display settings (only mon2 shows up cause dualview wasn't enabled) I fire up Freelancer
and everythings fine...played for 3 hours no problem.
Tried AO and it too was fine. I enabled the dualview and set up mon2 and mon3, then all hell
breaks loose again.

I've also tried setting up the display:
mon1(agp)- mon2 (pci display1) - mon3 (pci display3) I made mon2 the primary. all the games
play, but because of the PCI bandwidth, the framerate chugs and make alot of video lag.
The embeded video problem remains (this time if
I disable the agp mon1, the video will play on
mon2, the pci cards display 1)

The Tv card works fine, I can watch tv on all the monitors. My DVD player will only play to the primary monitor though ( regardless if it's the agp or Pci)

Is there somthing I need to fix this? maybe another prog or different drivers? is it the fact
that the PCI card has that AGP stuff enabled?
It seems like that the PCI is trying to override the AGP, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for any help you can give.
