Suppose I wanted to set up a 4 monitor display, should I buy a single dual-dvi graphic card (that has 2 dvi ports) or 2 dvi graphic cards?

Since DVI supposely can support up to 2 monitors by using a splitcable?

unless I read wrong?

wanted to ask around before I go shopping.

There are cards (expensive) that have dual-outputs from one DVI port, but regular (low and mid-priced) cards with DVI have one output per DVI connector.

You can go with 2 cards each with 2 DVI ports, or one specialized card with quad DVI outputs, but the second option is very likely more expensive than the first.
