Can somebody please tell me why my wallpaper, no matter how good the quality, looks like its been compressed. This happens when using 2 monitors and in either 16 or 32bit color. 3d wallpapers are the worst. Im using Geforce 2 GTS and TNT PCI. My friend has dual monitors and his does the same. Is there a way to fix this? Im runnin 1024x768 res and 85mhz on both monitors.

Does it look bad on both monitors, and what happens if you disable the second one?

It does it on both. If I dont have the secondary hooked up its fine. This is only notacable with 3d wallpapers. Normal wallpapers dont seem to have a problem. Its like it has problems blending diffrent shades of colors. Ive updated to Detonator 3 11.0 drivers and no change.

Looks fine here... I tested with the Tropic of Capricorn wallpaper from Digital Blasphemy.

I dont think its realated to the software. My guess it has something to do with win2000 and the active desktop.

I expirienced (sp?) the same problem. I guess it has something to do with win2k too.
(I'm using GeForce 2 GTS and 2 Matrox Millenium PCI)
Would be very nice if somebody could tell us how this problem can be fixed (nah, dont tell me to use win98/ME)
:)

I haven't seen this at all, I'm also using Win2000 (SP1) and Active Desktop. Two Nvidia cards (TNT2, TNT) and a 3Dlabs Permedia2. I'm using the 6.18 Nvidia drivers, never tested wallpapers with later drivers though, but I'll do that tomorrow.

Its just weird like when you have wallpaper that should be shown in 32bit but your showing it in 16bit...like the colors dont blend. Ive tried couple diffrent detonator drivers..same thing. Im at a loss to whats causing it.

I have now tested with the 11.01 drivers, and wallpapers are still okay on my system. I also changed colordepth to 16bit, and the difference was like night and day, so it really is working...
Regarding IE: I tested on Win2000 systems with IE 5.01 and IE 5.5, looked the same on both.
Are you using any desktop enhancement software, like WindowBlinds or something similar?

no, I do not.
Did you try to set your color depth to 32 bit? I think that is the hole problem!
I was running with 16 bit. The colors looked great in photoshop. Only as a wallpaper it looked bad. So I set my color depth to 32 bit... and it worked fine.
I think that is your problem too! Try it, and tell me what you see...
