general question: will more video ram give me better resolution and color depth in the second mon?

i am think of getting a 128MB radeon 9600 pro. How will the memory be allocated between the 2 monitors? i never seem to be able to equalise resolution and color depth.

You only need 8mb of memory for a 1600x1200@32bit desktop. So if you have two big monitors on that resolution, only 16mb of the 128mb's are used. You really don't need more then about 16mb or maybe 32mb for a dualhead card if all you care about is your 2d desktop.

Most of the video memory of today's cards is used during 3d games to store textures of the 3d surfaces.
