Are there any cheap solutions to my situation? I want to run dual monitors for my audio editing and mixing. But, with my current setup on my laptop I can only run dual monitors in mirror mode and I want to expand my desktop to the other. Now, I know my chipset does not support this. So, I can run the LCD and then the external VGA in mirror mode no problem. I've looked into PCMCIA video cards and even the Magma PCI expnasion thing, but everything is ridiculously priced. Is there anyway I can run my monitors in expanded desktop mode without spending thousands of dollars?

Yep...the VTBook. Our company just bought several and they work pretty good. Not good for any type of gaming, but for normal stuff, they work fine.

Or, if you have an old PC or laptop sitting around to drive the second monitor, use MaxiVista.
