Hi, netters.
I am experiencing some strange problems now. Let me describe configuration first:
MB: Tyan Tiger K8W (S2875) CPU: 2xOpteron 248 RAM: 2x512Mb MUSHKIN DDR 400 SCSI: LSI AcceleRAID 170LP HDD: Matxtor Atlas IV 10K 146Gb Video: nVidia Quadro 400 NVS (PCI) Sound: Hercules Gamesurround XP Optical drive: LG 4081B OS: Windows XP Prof SP1 Monitors: one 19" TFT and one 19" CRT
Just installed videocard yesterday and nightmare started. Without nVidia drivers it detects only one monitor out of 2 but works well with it (awfully slow though). After installing nVidia drivers strange thing happend: when something is required to be redrawn on a desktop monitor goes off an then on again, mouse freezing, some parts of desktop are not shown, many distortion on other desktop areas and so on. When I managed to uninstall drivers everything again became slow but without any glithes. I've tried different drivers, including Microsoft ones (windows update) - no go.
Does anybody here have such a combination (or something close to) working?
Actually I plan this WS to run under Linux 64bit, but I do not know whether to start to deal with or it will just "work" the same way... (on nVidia forums many people reported about having some troubles on dual Opteron with Quadro NVS 400 but on K8W Thunder)
Updated MB BIOS to 2.04. Updated videocard firmware to latest one available. (rel date 09.2004 from HP; videocard is from HP as well) - nothing helped. Tried different PCI slots - no change. Reset MB to factory settings - no change.

is there a reason why you are not use an agp card?
i could be wrong, but i think any PCI video card would need to be in slot 1 (slot furthest away from the agp slot) since that is the legacy 32-bit slot.
