Forums -> Multiple monitors -> UPDATE! Do not use Nvidia MX4000 pci as second card

I have a Nvidia GeForce 4200ti AGP that has worked fine for a long time. I expanded to three monitors, so I bought a MX4000 pci to run the third monitor. After a week of updates, driver changes, reconfiguring, and so on, it turns out it is the MX4000 that will NOT work with another Nvidia AGP. I installed an ATI Radeon 9200SE. It works flawlessly with up to 4 monitors, AND the Nview features still work across all monitors. I hope this helps someone else from going throught the headache that I did.

Thanks. I'll avoid all NVidia MX4000's until NVidia fixes the problem.

I concur. I'm having EXACTLY the same blue-screen issues which other users have mentioned.

Liam, did you ahve any issue with the Geforce not showing up?

For me, depending on the order, the 9200SE takes over, I see the ti4200 in system properties, but when I open the display properties, I don't see the monitors for the Ti4200...

For the record I run a ti-4200 and a mx4000 on this machine with three 17" lcd's and have never had a problem. From the min I booted it with the new card installed its been running great.

Wish I had read this before I bought one and spent hours trying to get it to work. Using an agp ATI 9800DV as the main card, this was impossible.

Every time i tried to enable the mx4000 in display properties, it would say that the drivers were for an old version of windows and could not be used, and subsequently wouldn't work. I'm gonna return it tmrw and get a 5200, hopefully with better results.

I have an FX5200 AGP and an MX4000 PCI working in my machine now under XP (3 monitors + TV). The only problem I'm having is getting Dualview to work on the 5200. The 4000 is doing its job with Dualview (Analogue + TV) but I only get the option to 'span' on the 5200.
