Forums -> Multiple monitors -> Attaching DVI Adapter to NVIDIA GEForce FX5200

I have a NVIDIA GEForce FX5200 card and am currently running one monitor. I wanted to hook up another VGA monitor and purchased a DVI to VGA adapter to hook into the extra DVI slot on the card. When I try to hook it up, it doesn't fit or go in correctly. Is there anything else I can do other than going and buying a new card? If I have to buy a new card, is there a good card out there that will allow me to hook up two VGA monitors within the 100-150 price range?

I am trying to use the monitors for flight sim.
Any help would be apprexiated.
Thanks.

"it doesn't fit or go in correctly"

Are you sure you bought the right DVI > VGA adapter.

You do not need to buy a new card!!
You can get a second monitor running with the card you have!

Dennis, thanks for getting back. That's a good question, because I didn't know there were multiple adapters out there. What do I need to look for to see if I get the right one?

>>DVI to VGA adapter to hook into the extra DVI slot on the card

the fx5200 has a vga and a dvi connector:

to use the dvi output on the card, you need a vga(female)-to-dvi(male) adapter

to use the vga db-15 output on the card, you need dvi(female)-to-vga(male)adapter

if you can't find an adapter locally, just do a google search for online suppliers.

I have a DVI(male)-to-VGA(female)adapter, but the DVI side doesn't fit correctly into the DVI slot.

There are two flavours of DVI (I & D) - you apparantly bought the wrong one.

Have a look at these images to see whichj it is you have/need...
