My tought was to play games on one monitor while doing other stuff, like chatting on the other. The problem is that I can only have one window active at the same time, wich causes pausing and/or various other negative effects. Is there a way to go around this?

I wish there were. As far as anyone knows, it's not possible at the moment. I've wanted the same for a long time and nobody knows how.
I'd like to be able to play an emulated game with my gamepad and chat simultaneously and other such things, but you cannot have more than one window in focus at the same time, ever.
