Hello, I made different tests and everything
drove to the same ending : the system
(asus a7v600/xp3200+/1g) won't support
more than one geforce card, wichever way.
1) 6600GT agp + 5200 pci : only 1 card visible
2) Ati Radeon 9600 pro agp + 5200 = no problem
3) 9600pro agp + 5200pci + 5200pci = only 1 5200 visible, no way to choose the other.
I would say there's no way to have working more than one nvidia chipset based vga card in the
same system, at least with recent drivers.
Did anyone succeed ?

I would not say that is necessarily true. I have a GF4 Ti4600 VGA card and a GF2 MX400 PCI card using 56.73 drivers with asolutely zero problems. You can see my configuration here.
Granted the drivers are old as well as the cards, but then, if it aint broke, don't fix it, especially when it comes to video cards and drivers.

Although I do not have different chipsets (Both of my cards are GeForce FX 5200's), I can say that I have had issues when upgrading my drivers. When I attempted to do so, my 3rd monitor (pci card) was not being recognized (XP was giving me a code 10 error to be more exact). However, when I use an old driver back from 9/24/2003 (5.2.1.4), everything seems to work fine. So, like Barton says... If the old drivers work, no point in upgrading :)

i'm getting to the same spot.
and it really sucks
fx5200 and 6600gt from xfx. they claim nvidia engineers say that no more than two monitors are support by their software (which softare they're talking about, I'm not sure.)

i have been using an Nvidia fx 5600 and an Nvidia fx 5200 together for a long time now. ive found that setting PCI as the primary card in the BIOS fixes most upgrade problem. before when i had AGP set as primary aything but the drivers on the CD would give me a black screen on startup. im using win XP home

They're probably saying that because it's very difficult to support the countless combinations of multiple monitor/card solutions. It can definitely be done, though. I'm currently using a 6600GT and 6200, both PCIe, and it works beautifully.
Much better solution than my previous one, which was installing two 2MB Matrox Mystique cards that rendered slower than hell :)
