Forums -> UltraMon™ -> OpenOffice.org crashes on smart taskbar right-click

I'm not sure if this is only on my system, or if it has been fixed in a release as mine is at bit old.

But when I right click on an open OO document in the smart taskbar OO crashes completly.

Please try if disabling custom menu commands for OpenOffice fixes the problem.

To do this, right-click the UltraMon icon in the system tray, select Options from the menu, then select the Window Menu tab and add soffice.exe (from the program subfolder in the Open Office installation folder) to the exclusion list.

BTW, which version of UltraMon and OpenOffice are you using? I tested with UltraMon 2.5 and OpenOffice 1.1.4 on Windows XP SP2, and wasn't able to reproduce the problem, right-clicking the task button of OpenOffice documents worked fine.

I am currently using Ultramon verson 2.5.22.0 and OO.org 1.9.79 (beta for 2.0).
Since it is a beta it might be a problem with oo. Maybe it's fixed in a newer snapshot build?

Anyhoo disabling menu-extensions for soffice.bin did the trick, no more crashes.

It's more a compatibility issue than a real bug, basically the application doesn't expect that other applications might add menu commands, and so makes a wrong assumption about the commands added by UltraMon, which causes the crash.

You could ask the developers to add support for additional menu commands, most likely it wouldn't be a big deal to do this.

UltraMon 2.6.23.0
OpenOffice.org 2.0 rc3
Windows XP SP2

Follow Christian Sudder's post above except instead of "soffice.exe" exclude "soffice.bin". Excluding soffice.bin will disable all right click menus and will prevent the crash.

The issue was when you had an open office file open and right clicked on the task bar item, it doesnt crash right away. It is only when you move the mouse over the "Move to Other Monitor" right click menu item that it crashes. Anyway exlude "soffice.bin" and the problem will go away.
