I would like to order a system from dell then put my own video cards in it. It needs to power 7 monitors. Here is a list of the monitors (already purchased):
Viewsonic VE710B (2) - VGA
Viewsonic VG510B (2) - VGA
Viewsonic VG910B – VGA or DVI
Viewsonic VP230MB (2) – VGA or DVI
How can I do this? Thanks a lot.

the power supplies on the dells are designed to power only a very basic configuration. putting that many video cards in one system may strain it beyond the power specs. also, many of the dells have only 2-3 pci cards. make sure the pc you order has enough of the proper slots.

If you're using low-end video cards (with no fans), and not doing heavy 3D, you should be able to run many cards at the same time in an ordinary computer, with an ordinary power supply.

I think nivida pci cards will work. I don't think the agp quad cards will work with another pci card. So you probably will need 2 pci cards.

I have one in my Dell Precision 370, along with the original dual-capable board. I currently have only 6 monitors connected but hopefully soon Santa will drop 4 more on my desk. ;-)

but seriously, where would I buy one of those cards from? Can you game in 3D accross all monitors? (that gaming part is important)

I am currently running 7 19" lcd's all radeon chip based cards...1 agp and 3 pci...It does seem to bog down my screen writes and when I use my mic in a talk room it breaks up..posabbly too much data going through the buss....anyone have any thoughts??
