Hi, guys,

i know multi-monitor KVM can do this. but there is a financial concern for me, because i already have a 4-port KVM, and i only the second monitor as a mirror.
here is my plan.
4 pcs connected with a normal 4-port KVM,
connect the VGA output of the KVM to a VGA splitter, and then connect the splitter to two monitors.
so i can control 4 computers, and see the same screen on both of my monitors.

will that work?
and any better solutions?

Thx,

yes, a vga splitter will certainly work and is the simplest way to do it if your only interest is to mirror multiple displays. they're commonly used for shows and conventions and allow you to set up hardware with a minimum of time and fuss.

do you ever use the second display as other than mirrored? do you ever use it as part of an expanded or extended desktop?

Thx. mirroring is the only demand.
cause i need to operate these computers outside the the room, and sometimes need to see the result inside the room.
could you tell me if i can connect the splitter cable to KVM monitor output? i didn't find any comments on such an issue.

thx again!

are we talking about the same thing? a splitter is not a cable...it is a active hardware device that redistributes (and boosts) the signal into multiple outputs.

like these:

it seems you're thinking in terms of a cable type splitter which is really a Y adapter....something which i don't think exists (at least i've never seen one).

that's the same i was talking.
normally we need to connect the input of the VGA splitter to the computer's graphics card, so i wonder if the splitter can be connected directly to the normal KVM VGA output.

yes, you would connect the input on the splitter to the console (output) on the kvm.
