Sunbelt Software's CounterSpy is based on the same code as Microsoft AntiSpyware and had the same problem with multiple tray icons.
Patch 3 corrected the problem.
BTW, the version did not update after the patch in Help|About...

The version shown on the About dialog will remain the same (it's the version of UltraMon.exe), only the version of the modified files has been changed.
