When I try to install the newest version of Ultramon it says that a newer version is on my pc and must be uninstalled first. I had 2.5 on it months ago and unistalled it back then, I even went through the registry and nuked all the ultramon settings.

Looks like something goes wrong with the product detection, please do a logged install as described here and send me the log file to support@realtimesoft.com.

I am having the exact same issue. During installation of version 2.6 software asked me about previous msi package 2.5 I downloaded it and provided the path to the 2.6 installer but it didn't help. Now I can't reinstall any version (2.5 or 2.6) Every attempt will end up in "Internal error 2753: FileShortcutsW"

I have a similar problem. After installing UltraMon 2.3 months ago, we had a change of network topology and I had to create a new user profile on the local machine and for that copied the old profile onto the new one. Since then, I haven't been able to use UltraMon, the uninstall misbehaved and now I can't reinstall 2.3 or install 2.6 anymore. Error shown (on install) is "Internal Error 2753. FileShortcutsW"

MsiZap should be able to remove the existing installation, you can download it here.
Run MsiZap from the command prompt with the following arguments:
msizap.exe TW <msifile>
For example to remove UltraMon 2.3:
msizap.exe TW C:\Temp\UltraMon23en.msi
