For most of my shortcuts, right-clicking and selecting properties displays the the Ultramon tabs. But shortcuts to IE or MSword do not have the ultramon tabs. Is this a limitation of Ultramon, or is there some way around this?

Unfortunately UltraMon can't customize some types of shortcuts, in this case you would need to create a new UltraMon shortcut manually.
To do this, right-click the UltraMon icon in the system tray, select Shortcuts > New Shortcut from the menu, then select the application you want to launch, for example Winword.exe for Microsoft Word.
If you want to create a shortcut which opens a specific website in Internet Explorer, select the executable for IE, iexplore.exe, then add the website address as an argument.
The application field would look like this:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" http://www.realtimesoft.com
