there's nothing special about the doublesight monitors which separates them from other vendors who offer packaged multi-display options. it's basically two lcds attached to an integrated arm/stand.
as you said, you can buy two LCDs and sit them next to each other. or if you want a cleaner, fancier look...you can buy a third-part display stand that similar to what you'd get with a doublesight.
