Cutting to the short of it, a friend of mine is using a laptop, with one video card, and using the external montior plugin as an extension of the original, now he can drag icons ONTO the extension but when he clicks on that ICON it opens in the primary monitor. Is there a way to set it up so that is opens in the secondary monitor. He is using an hp pavillion se 5170 laptop with an ati mobility card? i have no experience with dual monitoring so my hands are tied helping him. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Hm, I use winxp for dual display with one videocard. After I open in example internet explorer and drag it to the second monitor, it will be displayed on the second monitor the next time I run Internet Explorer. So it might be only possible with WinXP, but im not sure about that.
Try using the program UltraMon for better display.
