I am thinking about a architectual arts scenario to put 7 40" LCD Monitors in a row. I would be using 2 Matrox G450 MMS Quad cards in the system running WinXPpro on 3.2 GHz.
What do you think: Will WinXPP let me enable a 7x1 desktop (one desktop spans 7 monitors in a row) and will it perform?

you won't be able to run a single spanned desktop across all 7

Yes, that should work fine in regular Windows Extended Desktop mode.
