I was told by my local comp store that Windows XP will only support 3 monitors due to some 'flaw'. Is this true? I have seen stuff all over the internet about people setting up displays using just a simple quad card or 2 cards. I need to do this as cheap as possible(I already have the monitors). I need to be able to run all 4 monitors so I can split up this charting software I use. Please help!

I wanted to add that I am going to be running 4 analog monitors.

It runs more than 3. I had 4 at one point usings an AGP ti4200 and a PCI 9200.
