I cannot run windows media player at full screen on the second monitor. when i set it to full screen it appears on the first screen while the second screen goes funny.

Maybe you have video mirroring enabled, see When playing a video, it is also shown fullscreen on the other monitor for more on this.

Thanks for your quick reply.
I looked into the advice you gave me. But i cannot find theatre mode. i have a ati poercolour x800 dual dvi if that'll help you find out the problem.
