I am trying to add a second graphics card to support a third monitor and am having a problem. Hopefully, someone on here has had, and solved, this problem in the past.

My system has been running two monitors off of an evga 6600GT AGP card since September 2005 without a problem. Today I added an evga FX5200 PCI card to drive a third monitor.

When I turn on my computer, it starts on the two monitors connected to the 6600GT. Then, when Windows (XP SP2) starts, it comes up on the third monitor connected to the FX5200 and the two monitors on the 6600GT go blank.

Device manager then shows a problem with the 6600GT and says "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)". There is no list of conflicts.

I tried moving the FX5200 to different PCI slots with no change.

The best that evga Tech Support could offer was that I find someone who knows what they are doing to help me. Thus, this posting.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

For now, I've removed the FX5200 from my system and am back to two monitors on the 6600GT (which works fine when the FX5200 is removed).

Here's my system summary info:

Have you tried setting the PCI card to the primary card in BIOS? worked for my FX5200/6600 256mb combo.

Thanks MasteR, I'll give that a try.

If you haven't sorted this out yet, then you will probably find that IRQ 11 is being used by both the cards. (you can check this by going into device manager, going to view> resources by connection (windows xp) and expand the Interrupt request (IRQ) section. see what irq's the graphics cards want to use, and see if there is a conflict. Let me know

Ian.

Hi Ian,

I have an identical problem, with a 6600GT on AGP and GF 4 MX440 (with AGP8X - it's in the name, weird.) on PCI. I've set BIOS to init on PCI, and on opening the IRQ request list, I don't see my 6600GT at all. The MX440 is listed as being plugged straight into the PCI bus and is using IRQ20.

Could you help with that? Have been trying to get the pair to work forever.

Am using a P4B 3.0GHz on Abit IC7-G, Win XP Pro SP2, and Forceware 84.21.

Thanks in advance,
Dale

I got my AGP 6200 (128Mb) + PCI 5200 (128Mb) working after setting AGP aperture size to 256Mb in the BIOS. Hope this help.
