I have a 6800 GT OC.
Monitor 1 LEFT 19inch Samsung @ 1280x1024 VGA Monitor 2 CENTER 21inch Gateway @ 1680x1050 straight DVI
When you hit identify in either Ultramon OR Win/nVidia they are listed as they are above, I'm reposting because the same thing was happening as i had described in my previous posts WHILE THE MONITORS WERE DESIGNATED 2 (Left Samsung) and 1 (Center Gateway). Switching identities didn't resolve the problem.
From other threads I'd decided that if I could get the monitors to switch identities then my wallpapers would be generated correctly. Prior to this problem, Ultramon would correctly generate wallpapers (backwards so to speak) so that the images would display properly on the correct monitors. Now it does not, here's the example:
KEEP IN MIND ALL OF THE RESOLUTIONS AND POSITIONS DISPLAY CORRECTLY IN ULTRAMON'S WALLPAPER UTILITY.
When Monitor 1 (LEFT 19inch Samsung) is the primary monitor and virtually placed to the left of Monitor 2 (CENTER Widescreen 21inch Gateway), the wallpaper will display correctly. However, WHEN NO ADJUSTMENTS ARE MADE TO THE POSITIONS OF THE MONITORS but Monitor 2 is made the primary (as desired) the wallpapers will reverse. The wallpaper will begin on monitor 2 and move from left to right and then conclude on monitor 1 from left to right.
Switching around cables is not an option as Monitor 2 is widescreen and uses the DVI. Since the resoltuions are different it looks horrible or else I'd just deal with choosing opposite wallpapers.
Ultramon was generating wallpapers fine before, they were essentially reversed automatically, but they are now being generated as though the monitors were in opposite positions DESPITE ALL SETTINGS AND DRIVERS BEING SET PROPERLY. I managed to get it to work fine before, I even have it set up on a couple other computers in the same positions with varying resolutions and they work properly. Is there a setting I'm missing? Reinstalling and updating havn't helped.
Also, when monitor 1 is placed to the right, the wallpaper is generated correctly. But when I move the 1 back to the left of 2, the wallpaper goes crazy again.
Any information would be splendid. ^_^

Are you using Windows Vista, or IconX or other shell enhancement software?

nope, windows xp service pack 2, everything updated. Legitimate installations of everything. Video card drivers installed. Ultramon is the only enhancement software I use (I manually jerry-rig so to speak other windows visualizations but those worked fine before and are seemingly unrealted.) ATM im about to try to use older versions of nVidia's forceware, on one of my machiens i upgraded to a 7600GT, and while everything worked perfectly as far as ultramon and wallpaper generation is concerned, everytime i rebooted the resolution on my digital widescreen monitor would be 'forgotten' and would revert to the analog monitor's resolution.
Right now I'm using 84.21 . So at that point I switched back to my ATi X800 PE and it remembers everything fine and it gets along with Ultramon splendidly. I'm gonna switch back to driver version 81.65 and see if i get better results with both resolution consistency and ultramon wallapaper generation.

The previous post is refering to two machines, one with a 6800GT (an agp card) and the other hasa pci express slot, apparently ATI has a better set of drivers out for the moment.
At this point however the 6800 GT machine is suffering from both resoltuion loss (keeps getting reset after a computer restart, but then works properly after being manually changed back to 1680x1050) and the wallpaper starting on the left (to right) of monitor two (center monitor) and then working its way to the left of monitor one (left monitor)and ending in the center between the two. Ultramon is generating the wallpaper incorrectly after closer inspection despite the fact all the settings are correct and the fact it looks as it should in ultramon's previews, i'll prolly take some screenshots of it this evening. I just have to find some webspace to throw em on.

Unfortunately I don't know what might cause this.
The following will affect wallpaper generation:
- Active Desktop enabled or not. UltraMon will detect this, and will generate the wallpaper accordingly
- Custom wallpaper origin specified in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop, values WallpaperOriginX and WallpaperOriginY. UltraMon detects this and will display a warning
- third party software which handles display of the wallpaper bitmap, for example IconX. IconX is detected by UltraMon, but other applications aren't
Please note that you need to go to UltraMon menu > Wallpaper for UltraMon to regenerate the wallpaper or display the wallpaper origin warning.
Regarding the display settings issue: as a workaround you could use an UltraMon display profile to apply the desired settings automatically after login.
