Setup: Dell Inspiration Workstation 450 (dual-cpu), ATI Fire GL E1 video adapter, 1st monitor is Dell 1900FP, 2nd is 1702FP.
Windows and Hydravision(TM) recognize both monitors, but UltraMon doesn't. The Help says:
"Only a single monitor may be detected for one of the following reasons:
stretched or spanned multi-monitor mode is used. In this mode, only a single large monitor instead of multiple monitors is visible to applications and Windows. You'll need to change to independent displays mode"
How to change to "independent displays mode"? The only choice I see besides extended is clone or disable 2nd monitor. I tried those but UltraMon still would not recognize the 2nd monitor.

Extended desktop mode should be the same as independent displays mode.
Please post the system information from UltraMon's About dialog. To access the About dialog, right-click the UltraMon icon in the system tray and select About from the menu.

Thanks for the information, looks like you're running in span mode.
Are you using Windows 2000? This might explain why extended desktop mode is actually span mode on your system.
If true extended desktop mode is supported, you should have the following desktop mode options in the Catalyst Control Center:
- extended desktop mode - clone mode - horizontal stretch mode (this is span mode)

No, it's Windows XP with all service packs.

If you haven't done this already, try if installing the latest drivers for the video card fixes the problem.

Already done from the Dell site...I'm thinking since it's an old system and card (~ 4-5 years old) that neither Dell nor ATI support the latest stuff. Oh well I should be getting a new system in a few weeks.

That's a possibility, at least for Windows 2000 ATI never released drivers with support for regular extended desktop mode for their older dualhead cards.
