Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Ability to put icons on secondary monitor

I have downloaded a trial of ultramon and have been fairly impressed; however, it seems that if I try to drag any icon to my secondary monitor it will automatically 'snap back' to the edge of the primary monitor as soon as I release the mouse button. Is there any way to get around this, or are icons only allowed on the primary display?

Does this happen after you switched to a different user account via fast user switching?

If yes, this seems to be an issue with Windows, also happens without UltraMon installed.

UltraMon doesn't get involved when you move desktop icons to a different monitor, this is handled by Windows.

Yes, there does seem to be a corralation between the two. If I disable/enable the secondary monitor I can successfully move icons over there; however, they move back 'the next day'. Could have something to do with the wife logging on!

Even though Windows apparently (mis)handles this, is there anything that can be done to prevent/fix it?

Thanks for the reply!

As a workaround, you could disable and re-enable the secondary monitor via UltraMon menu > Display Settings, then restore the position of desktop icons via UltraMon menu > Desktop Icons > Restore Position.

Make sure not to disable/re-enable secondary monitors via UltraMon menu > Disable/Enable Secondary.

This would cause the current position of desktop icons (all icons on the primary monitor) to get saved and then restored, which is not what you want.
