Forums -> Multiple monitors -> Vista second display stuck at lower resolution

Hi,

I have a Latitude D820 with an NVIDIA Quadro NVS 120M chipset. I have an external LCD with a native resolution of 1600 x 1200.

After the upgrade to Vista, the external LCD is stuck at 1280 x 1024 even though the screen shows up as 1600 x 1200 in the Windows Display Properties. The rest of the screen realestate on the second monitor is there (i.e. you can move the pointer off the screen and drag windows into the area that is not clipped).

The LCD on screen display says the screen is 1280 x 1024 @ 60 hz.

The Windows Vista display properties say the screen is 1600 x 1200 @ 60 hz.

The external LCD is connected to the D820 via the DVI connector in the D/Port replicator.

The set up was running fine at native 1600 x 1200 on XP this morning and has been for months - so I know the hardware is capable of it. I flashed the lappy to the latest BIOS with no joy.

Any clues?

David.
