Why I can't figure this out I don't know.

I have an additional monitor plugged into my VGA port in my laptop:

I have muliti monitor support and use the external monitor as a second monitor most of the time to extend my workspace. Once I have enabled this feature however, I cannot go back to having the the external monitor function as a mirror of the built-in monitor. I need to toggle between the two set ups.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance to anyone out there that can shed some light on this,

I should add that I am running with an ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300 display adaptor

Anyone?

Have you tried checking and unchecking the "Extend my Windows desktio onto this monitor" setting under Display Properties/Settings?

Also, I did not see a mention of brand but if it is a Dell then there should be a display untility bundled that makes it easy to switch between cloned and extended. See if you can find it.
