I have an onboard Geforce 6100 GPU and just installed a PCI old Matrox Millenium 2. Here's the deal. The first time i booted up, xp recognized the card and everything. Then using ultramon, I tried to enable to monitor. The computer then blue screen and i had to go into safe mode to remove the Matrox Adapter so It would be recognized again. I tried a second time using Xp's display properties instead and it froze again. It's now working but only because I changed in my bios so that the gpu in the pci would be used for booting and therefore the 1st monitor for xp. I've set the onboard gpu as the primary, but all this will do is change to it once the desktop loads up. While it works okay, I'd much rather have my computer boot up off the larger monitor as I frequently use other operating systems. What could be stopping the onboard gpu from acting as the first monitor for xp?
