I have 3 monitors, 1 22" Samsung in the center and 2 17" samsungs (one on each side). I use two PCI express cards, one big card running the center monitor (for gaming) and the second, lower end card running the two monitors on the side. This results in having the center monitor identified as "1" and the left monitor identified as "3" and the right monitor identified as "4". The "2" monitor is the unused DVI port on the big card. Because of the oddball numbering scheme, I cannot use "one background/image for the whole desktop" setting, as it allocates the parts of the image based on the number identified by windows, so my center image shows up on the left side, etc. I found an excellent place to find widescreen images broke up into individual images for triple screen layouts at www.mandolux.com. I downloaded the 3 images to create one span, and picked the "a different background/image for each monitor" I'm not sure how to explain it, so I am uploading a picture to Flikr.
