I would like the ability to hide the UltraMon system tray icon all together (and I don't mean hiding inactive icons).

Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion, will be considered for UltraMon 3.

XP and later also support permanently hiding a system tray icon, you can configure this via Control Panel > Taskbar and Start Menu > Notification Area > Customize.

I would also really love this feature in version 3.0!!! Please make this feature avaliable so that the icon can be hidden for both admins and normal users.

I just dont like to have many icons in my system tray.

Is there any plans to impliment this feature any time soon Christian?

- Thanks

I don't know yet, haven't looked into this so far.

I would really appreciate this option. It's not like UltraMon requires constant monitoring. Normally I uninstall programs immediately that don't let me disable the tray icon (I stopped using AVG Anti-Virus for just this reason). In fact the only icon I have in my system tray is Gmail Notifier. The user can always go to the program interface through the start menu.

Not with UltraMon, currently the only way to access features like the wallpaper, screen saver, options, etc is via the system tray icon.

Is there any way to put the system tray on the secondary monitor? If not, that would be a nice feature for those of us who like a single monitor feel, with more space.
Christian Studer   2008-04-11 10:08
Currently that's not supported. I'll look into this for a future release, but don't know yet if it can actually be done.

Have you had a chance to see how hard it would be to give us the option to 'hide' the system tray icon. I'm sorry to go on about this feature but it really is something I'm desperate for.

Thanks

The only problem is how you would access UltraMon features and options, currently the only way to do this is via the system tray icon.

What you could do is hide the icon via Control Panel > Taskbar and Start Menu > Notification Area > Customize.

Here are a few quick solutions:

1. If you hide the icon and try to run UltraMon while it is already running, the icon reappears.

2. If you hide the icon and try to run UltraMon while it is already running, the program goes straight to the options menu. While the options menu is shown, *temporarily* also show the tray icon.

Those are simple fixes, but you could also:

3. Make all the features accessible from a single interface (like Vista's new "Personalize" window). One could then disable the icon but easily get to the interface through the start menu/shortcut.

Chris that method really dosent do what I want it do that interferes with the taskbar area wherras i want to hide the ultramon icon.

I think if you added this feature in and took some of ryans suggestions it would be nice. I dont see why Ultramon cant have its own area in the start menu where you can access the settings.

Any update on this?

I dont want to buy a 3.0 lisense unless this feature is implimented.

Hasn't been implemented yet, currently I also can't tell you if/when this will be implemented.
