Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Beta 3.0: Taskbar showing Buttons for "iconified" app's
Markus Heidinger   2007-04-17 01:42
Using Beta 3.0 with Smart Taskbar activated, some applications that do normally not having taskbar buttons but only a tray icon such as Babylon Translator come up with a non-functional taskbar buttons if launched when Smart Taskbar is already running. These taskbar buttons can only be removed by deactivating and re-activating Smart Taskbar or launching Ultramon after the application.
Is there a way to solve this or can it be fixed?

Regards,
Markus

I'll look into this for the next release.

Just to add some details: the non-functional windows buttons do always come up on the main taskbar on the primary screen. Outlook 2003 causes a similar behaviour when changing folders: it adds non-functional window buttons for windows that do not (visibly) exist.

"Me too" post

I witness the same behaviour - GTalk, Folding@Home have task buttons appear in the Taskbar. They usually minimise to systray, and now take up space in Taskbar real estate.

Another "me too", that might help, same thing happens with MS Office Communicator and it's video window.

I have this problem with netmeter. If I enable and disable always on top in netmeter, it usually goes away. I say usually because sometimes the taskbar button will be on the first monitor, when netmeter's on the fourth, and in that case, it never goes away.
