When launching remote desktop (mstsc.exe) i get two entries in the taskbar.
This also happens with Remote Desktops (tsmmc.msc)

1) Remote desktop itself
2) Input Capture Window

Number 2 should be a invisible window

This would not really be a problem but everytime i connect to another server it creates another entry and eventually fills up my taskbar.

Is this a known bug for version 3 ?

Cheers

Jeremy

Hello,
I've the same issue ...
Christian Studer   2007-05-30 11:01
I've seen this myself occasionally, I'll look into this for the next release.

When I Rdesktop to my computer, Ultramon crashes with the following error:

Faulting application ultramontaskbar.exe, version 3.0.0.0, faulting module ultramontaskbar.exe, version 3.0.0.0, fault address 0x00007ebd.

Which version of Windows are you using?

Hello,

I am also having this issue. I am running version 3.0 beta 1 on Vista. I can move the RDP window around to both monitors with no problem. However the input capture window stays on the primary monitors task bar and won't go away.

I had the same problem. I have 3 monitors and was using the beta. I uninstalled the beta and went back to the 2.x version and I haven't seen the input capture window since. I also had an issue with it crashing on a daily basis because of low system resources. 2.x hasn't given me that problem before or after the beta install. It is quite possible that I really do have low system resources and as with most up grades more resources are used. I mean I have 3 monitors because I need them, not because I want them.

I have this issue too with the 3.0 Beta 1, but not all the time strangely. Sometimes the Input Capture window entry will go away. x64 Vista Ultimate here.

to get around the input capture window thing, i usually just close ultramon, connect to all the rdp connections i need, and re-launch ultramon. if ultramon is started while there is only the main rdp window and not the input capture one, the input capture window will not appear later. it is only when ultramon is running and rdp is lauched that the extra window is created.

I just disabled the title bar and title menu buttons and it fixed it. I also added mstsc.exe to the apps not to add the buttons to.

I use the Remote Desktops snapin for MMC in Vista Business and it comes up everytime i start an RDP session.

I've done the suggested fix above but not sure if it works yet.

yea i get the same exact thing in vista business at work and 85% of the things i do are on remote desktop so i would LOVE a fix for this but it isnt a big deal because i have gotten used to it because it happeneds at home on vist ultimate 64bit

I'm seeing this using the Remote Desktops Administrative MMC snap-in on Windows XP SP2 and 3.0B1, but ONLY after logging out of a host. Once it appears, however, it won't go away unless I close the MMC console.

I just reverted back to v2.71 until it's fixed; I too do a lot of RDP work, but it gets very bothersome.
Wouter   2007-09-03 22:24
Is there any change this is fixed in beta 2? Ik like beta 1 because Wallpapers work for me and not in 2.7.1
Christian Studer   2007-09-04 06:42
That should be fixed in the second beta.

Christian Studer   2007-10-24 08:27
Later this year.

The fix is simple, just go to options, click the Window Menu tab, and add mstsc.exe to the list at the bottom. mstsc.exe is in Windows/System32

I lied

What do you mean you lied? Your solution seems to work. Have you found otherwise?

you have to add mmc.exe, if you use remote desktops.
Ed   2008-01-17 11:16
nevermind.
Lance   2008-04-16 06:57
Running ver 3.0, XP SP2, Using MMC 3.0 after opening RDP up through MMC I get the input capture window in my primary screens taskbar. I have added both mmc and mstsc to the window menu and window title bar under options now it simply takes and compiles all the open instances to one task bar grid but still appears. Any further ideas.
Christian Studer   2008-04-16 11:03
Do you have the latest version, 3.0.2? You can see the version under UltraMon menu > About.

daedalus01   2008-10-29 06:07
This "input capture window" still seems to be happening with the latest beta (3.0.3). Was this supposed to be fixed?
Christian Studer   2008-10-29 11:43
Should be fixed, also haven't seen this myself so far with 3.0.3.

If you would be interested in running a test version of the Smart Taskbar, and you could run DebugView on your system, please contact me by e-mail at support@realtimesoft.com.
