Forums -> Multiple monitors -> Windows won't boot with two monitors"

I have recently upgraded my system with a new Abit KT7A mainboard and a AMD 1.2MP chip and a fresh Win 98SE install. This upgrade has not proceeded without some pain, but what is giving me most grief is that I can no longer get Windows to work with two monitors using the same video cards (an Nvidia TNT1 (AGP) and an S3 Virge DX (PCI)) that worked fine with dual monitors on my previous system (Celeron 566 o'cloked to 707 on an Abit BX6 rev 2 board). The cards also work fine on the new system when run without the other installed, but with both cards installed the windows boot process stalls just after I get the message on the second monitor that the additional adapter has been detected and that I need to go into settings to extend the desktop to it.

I have tried various driver combinations and even another PCI card (an Nvidia TNT2) without success.

Any suggestions for a fix would be most welcome.
