I have a 7" hp laptop with Vista and an nvidia 7800 chipset. There is an external monitor port and several usb ports.
Can I add a 22-24" external monitor to this system and get a different window displayed on each monitor? What I'd like to see is the desktop and a main application window on the laptop screen and some child windows on the external screen.
With the CAD application I'm using, normally I don't think I can move the child windows outside of the main window.

It appears that what I'll need to do for my CAD application is just expand the entire screen to stretch over the 2 monitors. That's kind of a bummer but at least it will allow me to display one view on one screen and other views on the other screen at the same time.
Ideally, there would be some way to move the child windows outside of the main window frame.
