Forums -> Multiple monitors -> 2nd monitor slows to a crawl after suspend

My configuration: IBM ThinkPad 570E (PIII/500, 320MB) running Win2000 w/ SP2
Primary adapter: built-in Neomagic MagicMedia 256AV
Primary monitor: built-in 13" TFT (1024x768, 16-bit)
Secondary adapter: Margi Display-to-Go 2 MB
Secondary monitor: Viewsonic VPA150 15" TFT (1024x768, 16-bit)

Problem: I can put my system into suspend (standby) mode, but when I resume, the external monitor (Viewsonic) slows to a crawl. I have found a workaround: select Display properties - Settings - Advanced - Monitor, change the refresh rate from 75 to 60 (without confirming). This kind of resets the monitor, which no longer exhibits the said behaviour thereafter. Is there a better solution? Is this related to a lacking power saving function in the Viewsonic (this monitor is already 3 years old)?

Thanks, Dominique
