Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Beta 2 (3.0.1) issues

Alright, so far so good. Minor issues though, thought you'd like to know:

1. some issues w/the position of desktop icons after playing around with disablingthe secondary monitor and then switching the order of my two monitors;

2. Windows taskbar is invisible with my secondary monitor disabled;

3. After switching the position of my monitors, smart taskbar doesn't auto hide anymore. Have to disable it, and enable it back to get it to autohide.

Running Vista Ultimate 64 on two dual-monitor computers. Not sure if the above apply to both setups, will check and report back w/details in case noone can replicate the issues.

Cheers

Yikes!

After using two monitors in Vista, switching back to a single monitor blacks the screen, leaving only the cursor. No amount of F8, Ctrl+Alt+Del, etc. seems to have any effect. The mouse moves fine, and the disk is sometimes active, so the machine itself seems OK.

Hibernation is effective, momentarily showing the screen before fading to power-down.

However, coming out of hibernation results in a black screen as well.

Note: I had installed the RC1 SP1 for Vista a week ago, before installing the Ultramon beta. Ultramon had no problem with the SP, as far as I could tell. However, now the beta Ultramon is definitely not making the machine happy.

Aqualung,

1) Disable Secondary will save icon positions, maybe that's what caused the problem (UltraMon only keeps a single set of icon positions which can cause problems under some circumstances).

2) is a Vista issue, you'll have the same problem without UltraMon running if the taskbar is using autohide.

3) so far I haven't been able to reproduce this issue, please post the before and after display configuration information from UltraMon's About dialog (UltraMon menu > About).

Scott,

I can't reproduce those issues, both disabling the secondary monitors and resuming from hibernation work fine for me. I tested on both 32- and 64-bit Vista, but without SP1 RC1.

I've not experienced anything major. I'm running Ultramon 3 Beta 2 on Vista Enterprise 32-bit using the Smart Taskbar. I have ObjectDock on my 2nd monitor. A taskbar object appears. It shouldn't. There's a 2nd unknown taskbar object. My guess is that it's also associated with ObjectDock.

I'm getting extra taskbar objects that seem to be coming from Outlook. I haven't narrowed down exactly what I do when they pop up, but when I closed Outlook in an attempt to get rid of the extra object, I got this message.

System information:
2 monitors
Current desktop: 3200x1200 (0,0 - 3200,1200)

Monitor 1 - Plug and Play Monitor (primary):
Settings: 1920x1200, 32-bit color, 60 Hz refresh rate
Coordinates: 0,0 - 1920,1200. Workspace: 0,0 - 1920,1176
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS
Device: \\.\DISPLAY1\Monitor1

Michael, does this happen immediately after system startup?

Nate, I've seen something similar on XP, will look into this for the next release.

Most likely, yes.

Could be, will give it a try w/o UltraMon

"3) so far I haven't been able to reproduce this issue, please post the before and after display configuration information from UltraMon's About dialog (UltraMon menu > About)."

Will do.
