I have uploaded a second update for the Smart Taskbar in 3.0 Beta 2, if you still had problems with phantom tasks with the first update please check if update 2 fixes the problems for you:
32-bit: umtbar_30b2_upd2_x32.zip 64-bit: umtbar_30b2_upd2_x64.zip
To install the update, close UltraMon, then extract the ZIP file to C:\Program Files\UltraMon.

In normal operation this solved my problems with phantom task buttons.
But if the explorer.exe crashes and I have to restart it I get two phantom task buttons (with UltraMon icon). I have to restart UltraMon to get rid of them.

Makes it worst than before, I have little consoles on screen that I dont even know what they are, 1 is small and retangle with curved corners and says MCI Command Handling Window, and I have a Default IME running in processes even though I have no Messenger Apps running. And then a MSCTFIME UI process.

Freddy123, I've been able to reproduce the issue, will look into this for the next release.
jhuk, did you install the update for the Smart Taskbar or only 3.0 Beta 2? This issue was fixed in the Smart Taskbar update for 3.0 Beta 2.

I posted in here as I have updated to build 2 of this Taskbar Fix for beta 2 and and on Vista64 Ult RC1
Your app is making my PC do mad things like open Webpages and Apps and move stuff around that I aint doing.
Ir really messes up my Sidebar also, I know Vista aint perfect and I know you will get there someday but I cant use this in this state.
Im a offical Beta Tester for MS so I need use Vista and the SP's

jhuk, unfortunately I don't know what would cause this, let me know if you find out anything else. I'm using 3.0 Beta 2 myself on 64-bit Vista, but without SP1.

It was the same before the SP1, it made the mouse pointer drag and drop all my Desktop items and Sidebar Gadgets about screen.
That seems to have stopped with your new Beta.
This Beta+ 2 fixes also at times puts a ghost black bar behind the sidebar, and when I close my Sidebar there is still activity in that space as the Mouse Pointer animates (blue circle in Vista).
When I switched tonight I got my Green Text onscreen MSG as If I had pressed a Media button on my Logitech Keyboard, it says PLAY/PAUSE but stayed on screen till I rebooted, I never pressed that button and if I did it should stay on screen like 3seconds max.
I am willing to try any fixes you have, Vista is over 1 year old since RTM (Ive had RTM since Oct 2006)and with the RTM of SP1 it should be well usable for even those who dont use it yet.
There is no going back to XP now for me an many others.
It will still take till SP2 IMO to get it as good as XP-SP2.

I can't tell if the taskbar update is installing or not. What version should I have after the update?
I click on the setup file the run box comes up and when I click run the box goes away and then nothing else happens.
Thanks, Don

Don, this is a ZIP file which needs to be extracted to the installation folder. You will then get prompted if you want to overwrite the existing UltraMonTaskbar.exe.
File version is the same, only the modified date is different.

I know what a .zip file is and I have extracted it.
When I launch the program the run dialog comes up and when I click run it never asks me if I want to overwrite the Ultramon.exe file. It just disappears from the screen. If the versions are the same how can I tell if it is applying the patch? The date on the Ultramon.exe file on my system is 12/16/2007.
Thanks
Don

You'll need to move the extracted file to your UltraMon installation folder, usually C:\Program Files\UltraMon.

Ah! I assumed it was an installation package, not the actual file. Thanks for clarifying.

Hi, have the problem with the AppBar Bullet and Windows Sidebar phantom tasks, however when I try to download the above fix, it says it is no longer available. I am running version 3.0.1 B2 and Vista Ultimate which is fully patched up to date. Thanks for any help.

You can download the latest 3.0 Beta release here, patches for older releases are no longer available.
