hellow people of the future (lawl, arent we?). I am getting annoying hick-ups on certain situations in vista. I have a beasty PC (8800GT SC 512mb, quad core, 4gb of ddr2 @ 844mhz, etc...) but an average secondary video card (6200 256mb). However I don't think the 6200 is the reason for the little lags im getting, since everything is butter smooth except for the beginning of transition effects, it seems like a bug with vista more than anything.

Anyone with any tips on making perfomance on multiple monitors better? any plans from MS to care for us a bit?

another problem i have is that vista forces the taskbar on the primary screen... it's very un professional imo. Thanks fellaws.

Anyone getting some stuttering with 3+ screens in vista?

Haven't seen this myself so far, I'm using 3 monitors with two Quadro FX 3500 cards under 64-bit Vista.

hey 7h. with this setup do you lose DX10 functionality for games?
7h0m   2008-01-07 17:24
no Jalex19, i ran quite a few in full dx10.

do you only use one monitor for gaming or do you somehow incorporate all 3?

I have been looking at this triplehead2go thing and was curious about it but not quite sure that it's the route i want to go

from what i understand your only issue is aero in vista, which I have disabled right now

sorry don't mean to thread jack :P

nah thats cool i just replied in ur thread... we're bumping our threads up there so that's fine with me.

Yes I play on one screen at a time. My 8800 is connected to my biggest lcd and my projector. the 6200 is connected at 2 other lcds that surround my biggest 'gaming' lcd.

vista is far from perfect for multi monitor use, but i hope for ms to update the OS with downloadable updates. May I ask why you are using vista if not for the pretty look?

dx10?
Jalex19   2008-01-07 19:57
dx10, or more the anticipation of it. I want to play age of conan. right now im playing the witcher thats about it, so im not sure if thats a dx10 game. runs great tho

what kind of PSU are you using. I'm wondering if adding a 6200 will push my antec 500 earthwatt over the limit
7h0m   2008-01-08 07:42
no it will do just fine bud

I've run a few different multi-monitor configurations on Vista; in my experience this usually happens if the drivers aren't installed, or if the wrong drivers are installed. Try updating them.

Some drivers are better than others, the most recent beta drivers do give me better performance... however far from perfect.

Just out of curiosity, do any of your tested mixed video card setups under vista can run WinKey+Tab smoothly? (flip 3d)

Because i havent seen it yet and it's sort of a 'bench' test for multi monitoring in vista.
