Forums -> Multiple monitors -> DisplayLink USB adapter - Experiences?

Hi there

I just noticed that there are USB graphics adapters running with DisplayLink chips that provide inputs for additional monitors. This would allow me to add a third monitor to my system. The technology emulates another graphics adapter, which runs properly under Vista, thus eliminating the Vista graphics card compatibility issue.

I am, however concerned about the overall performance of the setup, especially when running a graphics-intense application on the primary monitor that is connected to the main graphics card (e.g. a game running in full screen mode). Does anybody have any experience with the technology?

Cheers,
PP

Sounds like it would be more expensive than a regular USB video adapter, like this one. Any idea how much it costs?

No, apparently it isn't: Kensington will offer a model with DVI output for about 100USD.
