Hello you all learned people,
I am trying to help my dad to select a video card on his new Dell that would handle a Span mode across two monitors. Is dual DVI support the same as dual monitor support but just does it over two DVI connectors? Or does it produce same two images across two monitors?
More specifically, does anyone know if the two dual DVI cards that Dell offers NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT and ATI Radeon HD2600XT do what I am looking for (i.e. horizontal span mode on 2 monitors).

Surely, either of those cards will do what you want. I have an older GeForce FX 5500, run two monitors, and can any of the things you mentioned [clone (same image on both monitors), independent images in each monitor, or span horizonally or vertically]
