Ever since I setup my dual monitors and installed Ultramon when I open a window I see the window in my taskbar, but it doesn't show up on my monitor. When I minimize the window form the taskbar and then restore it, I can see it go towards the far left side of my left monitor and then keep going. It is almost as if Ultramon thinks I have three monitors and it is putting everything on monitor 0 instead of monitor 1. Please help.

I should also note that Monitor 2 is the primary and it is on the left and Monitor 1 is on the right. (Backwards from what I would normally expect). Can this cause programs to open up on monitors that don't exist?

This is an application issue, happens if the application saves its position but doesn't handle multiple monitors correctly. Applications like Notepad or Internet Explorer shouldn't have this problem.
Usually you can fix this by moving the application to the visible desktop manually, then closing it there.
To move the application, right-click its taskbar button and select Move from the menu, you can then move the application using the arrow keys.

for some apps that move-with arrow keys will not work.
what about a "Move this window to display #" function?? I think this can be done via some windows messages can't it ??
Virtual PC for example had me stuck till I found out I could find it's .config file and edit it to move it back.

Thanks for the suggestion, a feature for moving all offscreen applications back to the visible desktop will be considered for a future release.

This has been happening even with Notepad and Internet Explorer. We changed primary monitors and we're waiting to see if it is fixed or not.

I don't know what would cause this, haven't seen this myself so far.
It's very unlikely that this would be related to UltraMon though, to verify this check if you still have the problem without UltraMon running or installed.

I've seen this on my machine too. I've got a two monitor setup, with the primary monitor being my laptop. Sometimes when I undock, something doesn't realize that the secondary monitor is disabled, and so programs sometimes open in the non-existent monitor.
Try setting up a hotkey (rightclick UltraMon in systray, click options > Hotkeys) in UltraMon for "move window to next monitor" or "move window to primary monitor."

Switching primary monitors with a new cable did not help. I figured since the beginning coordinates were not 0,0 and they were on my working pc, that it might be related. Coordinates now start at 0,0 ,but the problem still exists. If i close Ultramon everything opens just fine, so it is definetly related to Ultramon.

It should be noted that I did a clean install by removing all traces of the program after switching monitors. I installed the latest beta, since we were having problems with the stable release. Still having window position problems, but only when UltraMon is running.

Let me know if you find out anything else. I would need to be able to reproduce this issue for further troubleshooting, at the moment I don't know what might cause this.

When a user views properties of a shortcut and ultramon is installed they have new tabs. One of those tabs lets you define positions for windows. Where are those settings and how do i Clear them out?

Once you have set up custom settings for a shortcut, UltraMon points the shortcut to a new file. To point the shortcut to the original file, open a command prompt, go to the UltraMon installation folder, usually C:\Program Files\UltraMon, then run the following command:
UltraMonShortcuts.exe /cr
The files with the shortcut settings are stored in C:\ProgramData\Realtime Soft\UltraMon\ShellShortcuts (that's on Windows Vista).
Please note that only deleting those files won't restore the shortcuts to their original state, you'll end up with shortcuts which no longer work.

We are still having trouble with this problem and have not been able to find a solution. Is there some kind of Debug mode we can enter or a Debug log we can send you to help with this issue?

This is most likely a conflict with another application, if you have a desktop/shell enhancement application (WindowBlinds etc) installed you could try if disabling it fixes the problem.
If you're using UltraMon 2.7.1 or earlier, you could also give the 3.0 beta a try, which handles hooking differently. Hooks are used by UltraMon to interact with other applications, for example to add window buttons.
