Running Vista 32bit SP1.
When I try to run the latest version 3.0 Beta 2.1 I get the following fatal error message:
UltraMon encountered a fatal error and will exit. More information:
Source file: .\MultimonGUI.cpp Line: 310 Return value: -2147024882 Last error: 1008
The older version 2.7.1 works fine (besides the known vista issues).
What can I do? Thank you. Roli

Can you start the Smart Taskbar manually by double-clicking on UltraMonTaskbar.exe in C:\Program Files\UltraMon?
The error you get means that UltraMon failed to create a component due to insufficient free memory.

Hello I tried the beta 3.03 on vista SP1 32 bit and got the same error. I have not installed the mirroring part nor the screensaver part. I have 1.3 GB free memory.
When I run that UltraMonTaskbar.exe it works though... I can see the second taskbar

Ken, please post the complete text from the error message, you would only get the error mentioned above in version 3.0.2.

Jim, this happens if the mirroring feature isn't installed, will be fixed in the next release.

Re error if mirroring is not installed, how about changing the installation instruction advioce so other people don't get caught by this problem too? (Like me!)

I have a configuration similar to above (Vista x86, SP1, no mirroring installed. Even when I mnually launch Ultramon I get the same exact error.
This is a Vostro 1700 laptop w/ nvidia 8600M if that makes any difference, but I doubt it would as I am booting it with second monitor attached.
Any advice?

You'll need to install the mirroring feature with the 3.0.3 release, this issue will be fixed in the next release.
Installing the mirroring feature won't cause any problems.

I get this error under the latest releases 3.0.3 and 3.0.4 under Vista64. It says the following:
UltraMon encountered a fatal error and will exit.
Version: 3.0.4 OS: 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2, v.113 x64 Line: 757 Return value: 0 Last error: 0
This happens after I close NetOp Remote Control Guest application.

Does the error occur in WndExt.cpp? If yes, the issue will be fixed in the next release.

I am getting the same error when I install and launch the 64-bit version of Ultramon 3.03. Here is my error:
Ultramon encountered a fatal error and will exit.
More information:

Charles, upgrading to 3.0.10 will fix the problem, 3.0.3 doesn't support Windows 7. Support for Windows 7 was added in 3.0.6.

If you're on Windows 7, you're most likely running UltraMon in Vista compatibility mode. To fix this, go to C:\Program Files\UltraMon, right-click UltraMon.exe and select Properties from the menu, then select the Compatibility tab and uncheck 'Run this program in compatibility mode'.

I get this error
Version 3.1.0 OS:5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 x32 Source File .\SysMenu.cpp Line: 549 Return Value :0 Last Error: 8

You'll get this if UltraMon fails to add its menu commands to an application's system/window menu, apparently due to not enough memory being available.
Do you only get this error if you launch a specific application?
