For me, the main reason for this program was mirroring to a second monitor. thought it would be a easy thing. It's not. I'm told to restart, and check settings. did both, no luck. What else is there? I'm on XP w/Acer Aspire and Acer monitor.
Any help much appreciated. Have to give a presentation shortly.

You could get this error if you're trying to mirror the secondary monitor on the primary monitor.
Doing it the other way around, with the secondary mirroring the primary monitor, should fix the problem.

I've tried it both ways and get the same error message.

I get the message "a monitor can't monitor itself, please choose a different monitor to mirror.'
When I choose the other monitor to mirror, I get this:
Failed to set up mirror target monitors. Restarting your system should fix this problem. If you already restarted your system, please check your mirroring settings.'
This is a circular solution, neither work.

To set this up, first select the primary monitor, then under 'mirror the following monitor', select (None).
You can then select the secondary monitor, and set 'mirror the following monitor' to Monitor 1 (I'm assuming the primary monitor is number 1).

Thanks, I finally figured that out.
The program works great and is a God-send especialy during presentations like when teaching.

Well, I guess I didn't figure it out because I have the same embarrassing problem again. Can't mirror in front of a class of 30 students. And, of all things, it was a computer class.
Same problems as listed above.
Please, any ideas?

Do you get the exact same error message?

I don't remember. All I know is that it isn't an easy thing to mirror and I haven't been able to mirror since I thought I had it figured out.
And, mirroring should be an easy thing to do. Set the settings, mirror monitor 1 on monitor 2 and proceed.

I agree, this will be changed for the new version of mirroring in 3.0 Beta 3.
