I downloaded Ultramon 3.0.2 beta hoping it would solve my problem. I'm not sure if I'm using it wrong of if it is just not capaple of doing what I want.
I use a laptop at home, and at work I attach it to a 24in monitor directly through the video out. (not through a docking station.) What I hoped Ultramon would do is allow me to save a desktop profile for the single laptop monitor and a profile for the dual setup--maintaining the icon layouts for both.
However, this does not work right. I made a profile named "laptop" with the "preserve desktop icons" checked and saved. I did the same when running both monitors with a profile "Laptop_Dell24". Still, The icons never return to where I want them in either profile when I start up. Can Ultramon do what I want?

UltraMon doesn't support this, only a single set of icon positions gets stored, the display profile only stores display settings (resolution, monitor position, etc).
As far as I know there are tools which support saving multiple icon profiles, but I can't give you any recommendations.
