Forums -> UltraMon™ -> Macbook w 2nd monitor, can't make it primary

I'm using Ultramon with a Macbook running Windows XP (using Bootcamp) and I'm hooked up to an external monitor. I'm trying to make the external monitor the primary monitor by checking "make primary" and it won't take. It blanks the external screen, then resets to the way it was with the "make primary" box unchecked again.

I'm doing the same with a second laptop, this one a Dell running Windows XP Pro and on that one it works fine, same procedure but it takes.

I'm thinking it must be something about the fact that it's a Mac running Windows, but that's just my guess. Any ideas?

TIA

Adding to that: I forgot to mention that I'm taliing about doing this in the Ultramon display settings. I've also tried it in the advanced settings of the graphics card, reachable through the Windows display panel. Neither way works.

Sounds like an issue with the video card driver.

If you have software for the video card installed you could also try if you can change the primary monitor that way.

Thanks, no I tried that but couldn't change it that way either.

On the other hand I found a workaround from another response you made elsehwere here when you suggested "dragging the task bar to the other monitor"-- I didn't realize I could even do that.

So I just dragged the task bar from the notebook to my larger monitor and now I have the start button and all the task bar icons over there, which is what I wanted.

In other words it's still not the primary monitor, but now it look like it is.

So thanks for that.
