I only just noticed this today, because my moniyor will tell me the refresh rate if I go into the brightness etc menu.
With the ***second*** monitor with detonator XP drivers on Win XP on GF2 MX dual head, if you change the refresh rate of the second monitor, it acts like you have done something (eg screen blanks, confirmation prompt etc), but the refresh rate remains at the original setting.
eg in 1600 x 1200 I can't get above 60hz even though display properties tells me it is.

Can anybody confirma this on their system ?

Sorry that was a bit long-winded and confusing

In a nutshell:

Has anybody noticed that changes to the 2nd monitor refresh rate in win xp with GF2 dual view don't work?

good question. Since my monitor doesn't display the refresh rate like yours does - how can I determine what my actual refresh rate is?

Is there a utility that can probe it for you?

Don't know about the utillities, but you could probably test it by pushing the monitor res up fairly high on the second monitor and then changing refresh rates.
If the screen gets that "shaky" look when you drop the refresh rate down then it's changing, otherwise it's not.

This is turning into a one-sided conversation, but I have some more to add.

Checked the registry -> System seems to believe that both monitors are at 72hz and 1600x1200, in fact 2nd monitor is stuck at 60 Hz (probably the default)

Further twiddling -> At lower resolutions the refresh rate can sometimes be changed(eg at 1280x1024 will sometimes increase above 60 Hz, but not consistently)

I would appreciate comments from people who can successfully change refresh rate at 1600x1200 or above as well as from those who cannot on win xp GF2 dual head

This won't really help, but I can reproduce the problem. This may explain why overlay, and hence widescreen DVD is not working for me...

I am sad......

i no longer have this problem - i'm not sure whether it is because i used the nvidia refresh rate fix patch - or because at 1600x1200 my monitor won't support anything higher than 60hz anyway. . .
currently i'm running at 1280x960 and my primary monitor can go from 60-85hz and the secondary can go from 60-70hz

What is this "nvidia refresh rate fix patch"? Can I download it from somewhere?
